Cafe in a yurt

Within St. Katherine’s Precinct, not far from Limehouse Basin Marina, the Yurt Cafe is just one of the small handful of businesses there on a mission to encourage wellbeing through hospitality. Seeking to build community, as inspired by the history of the premises (it was once the first port of call for travellers arriving into London) the cafe is a warm and relaxing space with multiple rooms and nooks.

Exploring art, conversation, community projects, and food, it is a reflective place to spend some time, hosting numerous classes – such as yoga, knitting, or ‘philosophy on tap’ – as well as opening their own small cinema this year.

This year also saw the establishment of a ‘trade school’ by which teachers lead skilled classes in return for barter – be it a jar of jam, or a piece of equipment they might need.
