Secret pub in central

A pub so secret that apparently not even the locals know it’s there, Ye Olde Mitre is tucked quietly down an alleyway in the busy Holborn area. Set in such an area of history, it’s not far from where William Wallace was hung, drawn and quartered at Smithfield and it’s famous for having featured in a number of films, as well as having a cherry blossom tree that Queen Elizabeth once danced around with Sir Christopher Hatton.

Beyond its interesting stories, it is also home to award-winning ales and homemade bar snacks, as well as what they call their own ‘Spanish tapas with a twist’. It’s small, traditional and exceptionally endearing and has been since 1546 – making it one of the capital’s oldest pubs.
