Swing Patrol Southbank Ballroom

Learn to swing dance

Ever wanted to swing dance but just didn’t know where to? Well, Swing Patrol have over 40 classes a week across 35 venues so, chances are, there’s a gig not far from you. Had you not considered it, or know what it is, swing is energetic dancing to jazz music from the 1920s through to the 40s and it’s really rather fun.

Taking off across the city, Swing Patrol is a dedicated and passionate group of teachers, bringing together a diverse community of people with a shared interest not only through their classes but through the big parties they throw.

We were lucky enough to visit the Christmas Ball Extravaganza in a Southbank ballroom this month. Dressing up debonaire in our best finery, we took a few steps towards learning to swing under a blanket of stars (in truth, the ceiling adorned with hundreds of beautiful sparkling lights) accompanied by amazing live bands – such as the Broken Swing Band.

So, whether it’s a class or a party you’re after, Swing Patrol might have just the ticket.
