Skiing in Hyde Park
We went roller skiing recently. No, that’s not a typo. We definitely mean roller skiing, not skating, and we know you’re wondering what that is, so we’ll fill you in. There’s no snow, but smooth Tarmac, and the terrain is flat meaning that you can ski ‘cross country style’ in a way that is low impact – but great exercise – and a clever way for beginners to prepare for the slopes.
We were shown the ropes by Iain and Adam, who encouraged us to take part in the first of a five part course along the Serpentine at Hyde Park. With great views of the lake, joining us were a lad of 17 and a lady of 70, which goes to show how approachable the sport and the team are.
Running for the last ten years across different locations in London – Hyde Park and Victoria Park – the instructors are as passionate as they are knowledgeable with some having been competing for years in British Championships. The rotating group of teachers are talented, enthusiastic and qualified to help build your confidence and style, more so than just your technique.
All equipment and tuition is included in the price, with sessions lasting 90-minutes to 2-hrs.
