Flamingos on a roof
Open only on select days in the month (so it’s best to check) the Kensington Roof Gardens is a sky-high plot of 1.5 acres divided into three sections atop a former department store. There’s a Spanish-style garden, a Tudor garden, and an English woodland garden that has a stream running through it and is home to four pet flamingoes.
There are many different plant and tree species to discover – some that have been there as long as the garden itself (that’s over 60-years) as well as peepholes in the wall that peer out over the West of the capital.
By night, the gardens become a private members club and there’s a restaurant, Babylon, serving contemporary British cuisine.
