Arts space in an old horse hospital
A Grade II listed building, the Horse Hospital is a progressive arts establishment in the centre of Bloomsbury and was once a purpose-built stable for the city’s horses. It is also the only remaining example of its kind that is unspoilt, so pay particular attention to its architecturally fascinating elements, such as its cast iron pillars, cobbled herringbone pattern and hardwood slats, that would have prevented the horses from slipping.
The gallery promotes the literary arts, as well as underground film, visual art and the avant garde, encouraging ‘risk, innovation and experimentation’. Their priority is building community over profits and has been in operation since 1993, always seeking new and interesting submissions to display, meaning you can often expect something quite unique to witness.
