Farm animals in Hackney

The success of Kentish Town City Farm in 1984 led to the establishment of a sister farm in Hackney. Concerned with providing space for youngsters and families to learn about farming first hand, these farms have now been running for over thirty years and continue to thrive.

Living in the busy capital with little rural space, the farm provides access to farmyard animals that you might not otherwise see, as well as spaces for the local community to experience the growth of fruit and vegetables first hand.

At Hackney City Farm, there is a selection of courses to attend, such as food smoking and beekeeping in the city, and also projects that include encouraging intergenerational relationships in the local community, and ‘Ourmala’, which is a yoga course available for female asylum seekers.

It’s not just a farm but an integral part of the Hackney community.
